Using instruction for Grapholitha molesta Busck mating disruption

【Product Features】Highly specific target action, Non-toxic and harmless, Easy to operate.

【Target pests】The Grapholitha molesta primarily damages pears, apples, peaches, plums, apricots, crabapples, cherries, waxberries (yangmei), etc.

Biological CharacteristicsThe Grapholitha molesta Lepidoptera, Tortricidae family, also known as the Oriental Fruit Moth or Pear Borer, commonly abbreviated as "Pear Moth". Adult body length 5-7mm, wingspan 9-15mm. Body is greyish-brown, lacking luster. Forewings have 10 groups of short white needle-shaped stripes along the leading edge, a small white spot near the middle of the wing, and approximately 10 small black spots near the outer margin. Female moths have ring-like scales at the tail end; males are slightly smaller than females. Number of generations are different from 3-7 in different area, Regardless of the number of generations per year, they overwinter as mature larvae in thin, white silken cocoons under loose tree bark, in bark crevices, or within tree trunk bindings. Pear Fruit Moth on pear trees can also overwinter in the soil around the root collar and under weeds or fallen leaves.

Peak adult occurrence periods for each generation in China: Overwintering generation mid-April; 1st generation late May; 2nd generation late June to early July; 3rd generation late July; 4th generation late August; 5th generation not distinct. Adults are active, mate, and lay eggs in the evening.

【Active Ingredient】Sex pheromone of Grapholitha molesta

【Mode of action】The mating disruption technique releases high concentrations of Grapholitha molesta sex pheromones in the field, masking female locations and disorienting males. This delays or prevents mating, drastically reducing viable eggs and suppressing pest population density, thereby achieving the purpose of pest control.

【Application Guidelines】

1. Orchard Selection: Area should be at least 30-60 acres (approx. 2-4 hectares) or more; optimal effect is achieved with over 1000 acres (approx. 67 hectares). Mating disruption zones are best established in flat, relatively isolated orchards with contiguous fruit tree planting and a regular shape (square is preferable).

2.  Hanging Method: Hang dispensers on the middle to lower part of the tree canopy.

3.  Dosage: 1-2 dispensers per tree, 30-40 dispensers per acre (approx. 75-100 per hectare). Double the number of dispensers on higher slopes and along the edges facing the prevailing wind direction.

4.  Hanging Time: Hang twice a year:

First hanging: One week before the flight period of the overwintering generation of the Pear Fruit Moth.

Second hanging: Mid-June (adjust according to local conditions).

Precautions

1.  Dispensers can be used directly when pest population density is at a low to medium level. When population density is high, combine with chemical control.

2.  Due to the high sensitivity of pheromones, wash hands before hanging dispensers to avoid contamination.

3.  Store refrigerated in a refrigerator before use. Shelf life is 18 months. Once the packaging bag is opened, use the dispensers as soon as possible.

4.  Mating disruptor products target male adult pests. Hang dispensers one week before adult flight begins.

5.  To monitor the effectiveness of mating disruption, place one monitoring trap per 1-15 acres (adjust quantity based on actual conditions).
